hi guys. recently installed REX on my system (FS9 and windows 7), and i want to use the textures from REX with the weather engine from AES. i have heard many people doing this. my question i have after reading the manuals and posting on their support forum, is do i need to install a different set of textures everytime i fly? or is it possible to just install the textures once that are needed (blue sky, stormy sky, etc) and have AES decide which are needed? thanks for any input you could give.

I have REX and AES, Before starting FSX I open REX and click 'I just want to fly" It will load the pre-selected textures from there then open FSX when its ready. After FSX is loaded then I'll start AES. There is an option in REX to use the textures only. Some add their flight plans before starting AES but I don't. I normally figure out my plan while its loading.

I use both REX Essentail and ASE for FSX. On the panel for the REX textures there is green colored button towards the lower right "Install." After I select my textures I push this button. REX installs my selected textutes replacing the default FSX textures. It's a one time process. I only need to do it again if I chose another set of texture/s. After that, everytime I run FSX the textures I selected from REX are already loaded on FSX ready to go.
I would think FS9 would run the same way.

hi anthony, thanks for the input. my question about that process is how often to i need to change my texture set? in other words, do i need to change it when there is rain in the forecast or are those textures included also? also, since you use both, my first flight with REX, i found a visibility problem. here is the screen shot... do you know what is going on?

It Does Anthony, Jason with regards installing textures I do it once and only change them if i get bored with the same Sunset's/ Sunrises etc. Changing them for every flight would be too Time consuming for me. Regarding the Screenshot I have no idea, I have never seen this on my sim

No you don't need to change the textures based on the weather. You should only change the textures based on your preference (i.e. scuffed runway lines or brand new runway lines).
As far as the screenshot, I've never seen that problem before on my setup. Have you posted the screenie and your issue on the REX or ASE forums? Also have you tried using the REX weather engine to see if you get the same problem?

i did post my picture to the rex forums and they said it was a problem with my fs9 cfg file which needed to be fine tuned. i havent had this problem before, but they suggested i google it, so i will give that a shot i guess. btw, thanks everyone for answering my question about installing the textures.
