David, I don't know anything about that particular drive, as I purchased this SSD drive with mine, but according to the customer reviews on yours, I think it'd be fine.

Watch the reviews. The OCZs have had a lot of failure issues in the past but it looks like this one has solid ratings. Keep your fingers crossed.
SSDs are great except capacity is expensive. Consider the whole state of AZ photo scenery is something like 50GB. That's nearly half the capacity of the drive this guy is looking at. And that's just one state.

I have that drive in my pc at work. Haven't had any problems with it. I run the Force GT at home and have also not had any problems with it.
If you have a Fry's nearby you can get the Force GT for $80 with a rebate. You must get it at the store though.

The problem with flash based technology is the limited number of write cycles that can be performed. (Not that hard drives can't die either, but I guess I trust them more than the SSDs.)

The difference in using a SSD vs a 32meg Cache 7200 HD is not that great of an improvement. Plus you can eat a lot of HD realestate on a SSD.

I'm not sure where you got your statistics. An SSD is tons faster than a standard hard drive even with 32meg of cache. Even when you compare the slowest aspect of a SSD, the write operation, it is still 10 times faster. The only way to get faster performance out of mechanical disk is to setup a raid array with 4 or more drives. At 4 drives they would need to be 15K SAS drives. You would also need to consider how many platters are in the drives. More platters equals slower performance.
As for the life expectancy it isn't a concern in the home application. By the time you get to that magical limit of write cycles you would have replaced the drive to get a better one, we are talking 10+ years. Where a mechanical disk only has the life expectancy of 3-5 years, with most of them failing before 3 years. SSDs are not affected by dust or movement like a mechanical disk. They also do not have moving parts that can wear out. I cannot give you statistics on manufacturer defects.
I can give you some statistics of my own. Out of the 4 SSD drives I have none have failed. I can't give you a number on how many HDDs have failed because I don't have enough fingers. I can tell you that in my SAN at work I have a mixture of SSD, SAS and SATA drives. In the 2 years since I set this SAN up I've not had a single SSD fail, I've had two 15k SAS drives and eight SATA drives fail. All of those drives get extensive usage all day everyday.

Six months ago I purchased a computer from MicroCenter with a 240GB SSD. I had it formatted into two partitions C: (for Windows7 and Microsoft Office) and D: (for FSX). With my old two hard drive system (and admittedly Windows XP) time to boot 34 seconds, to get to the FSX opening screen 1 minute and 40 seconds. Now the Windows screen is up before the monitor is on and the same FSX program takes 14 seconds. I am sticking with the SSD.

I bought a 100 GB Ocz Vertex LE three years ago and it still works great. I just ordered a 240 GB Ocz Vertex 3 from Newegg for $149 for my new system. My three year old WD Caviar 7200 Rpm died one month after the warranty expired. Nothing is bullet proof but the SSD really speeds everything up!
