Hi, I'm new.
In the "pilot center" on our website it states that I was accepted as a pilot as "a First Officer in the B757-200 program. (Stage 3)" So, obviously I can fly the B757-200 aircraft and routes and the B757-300. However, underneath this it says, "You are also qualified to file Flight Reports using the following aircraft:
A310, ATR-72, B1900, B757-200, B757-300, DHC-8, EMB-120, ERJ-170, ERJ-175, ERJ-190, ERJ-195, JS41, L-100, S2000, S340"
I'm a bit confused (my wife says this happens all the time), on pp. 9-11 in the "Pilots Promotion Manual" it seems to say that I cannot fly these other aircraft listed above unless I transfer to their "programs." In other words, even though it states on the "Pilot Center" I am "qualified to file Flight Reports using" let's say, for example the ERJ-170, I am not really able to do so until I transfer to the ERJ-170 program? Is that right? If so, why does it say I am "qualified" to do so in the "Pilot Center?"
A little help would be much appreciated.

The manuals are a little out of date. You do not have to be in a program to fly a specific plane. I'm a captain in the 767 and 737 programs, but I can still fly the 767 or 737 (in addition to any other ratings) at any time.

You can fly any airplane you are rated for on any route, as long as it can make the trip safely with the required amount of fuel. However, to have the flight count towards promotion, you need to fly the aircraft that is your program. For example, you can't fly an EMB-120 and have it count towards promotion to captain in the 757. You have to fly the 757 to have it count.
Hope this helps!

OK, so in my example, I can fly the ERJ-170 any time I want! Yes, I do understand that in order to make captain in rank I must have 10 approved flights using the acars. However, let's say I want to fly the B738. I can't fly this aircraft yet because I have not been approved to do so. Right?

You can fly it, you just won't be able to receive any credit for it. If you want to move to the 737 program, you only need to fly 5 flights in a 757 and then you're eligible to transfer to the 737 program after passing the F/O exam and a CR.

When you say I "won't receive any credit for it," you're talking about achieving captain's rank, right? Also, I don't want to move into any other program right now, I just want to be able fly the B738 if I choose to do so.

I mean that any PIREP that you file that was flown with a 737 will be rejected until you have the rating for it.

Ahhh, I gotcha now, but the other planes listed on my "pilot center" page - "A310, ATR-72, B1900, B757-200, B757-300, DHC-8, EMB-120, ERJ-170, ERJ-175, ERJ-190, ERJ-195, JS41, L-100, S2000, S340" won't be rejected. Right?

Hi Bob,
You can fly any flight with any plane listed under the "You are also qualified to file Flight Reports using the following aircraft" section of the Pilot Center. If that's where you got that list of aircraft, then yes!

Welcome aboard Bob! Just one other point to clarify, if, for instance, you wanted to fly 737s, but still remain in the 757 program, you can request an additional ratting in that aircraft. The great thing about DVA is that there is no limit on the number of aircraft types you can qualify in. As an example, there are members here who are rated in every single type aircraft we operate. So whatever you want to fly, we have a program for you!
